How to Keep Your Feather Fans Open

HOT-FANS feather fans include two different hardware options for different purposes.

Standard Hardware — Smooth Opening & Closing

Our feather fans are assembled with standard pivot hardware. This configuration is designed to allow the fan staves to move smoothly, making the fans easier to open and close during dancing, practice and performance.

Tightening the standard nut can adjust the resistance slightly, but it is not designed to lock the fan in the fully open position.

If the fan does not stay open after tightening the standard nut, this is normal and does not indicate a problem with the fan.

Locking Hardware — Keep the Fan Fully Open

Every pair of HOT-FANS feather fans includes a complimentary locking bolt and nut set.

If you want the fan to remain fully open, open the fan completely and tighten the locking nut until the fan stays securely in position.

When you want the fan to move freely again, simply loosen the locking nut.

Important: Do not overtighten the hardware. Tighten only enough to achieve the desired resistance or hold.
